Building Canadian Leaders: Professor John W L Winder Scholarship in Rotman Commerce

Awarded based on academic merit to domestic students (Canadian Citizens, Permanent Residents, Protected Persons or (Convention Refugees) admitted to first year studies in Rotman Commerce. The award supports and encourages well-rounded students who demonstrate a track record of community engagement, involvement in sports, culture and extracurricular activities, entrepreneurial spirit and leadership potential. Valued up to approximately $16,000 over four years of study.  

This award is for four consecutive academic years (Fall/Winter terms) and the total award value is indicated on your JOIN U of T portal.  

This award is conditional on: 

  1. Completion of your secondary school program with high academic standing and fully satisfying the conditions of your offer of admission to the Faculty of Arts & Science at the University of Toronto. The Faculty reserves the right to withdraw this award offer if these conditions are not satisfied. 
  1. Full-time registration in first year studies in Rotman Commerce, St. George campus, in Year 1. 
  1. Full-time registration in a Rotman Commerce program at the Faculty of Arts & Science, St. George campus, in Years 2, 3 and 4. 
  1. This award is renewable for three additional years, provided you continue to be enrolled full time and maintain an annual GPA (AGPA) of 3.0 or higher. The renewal will be based on your final grades, and you will receive an email notifying you of your renewal eligibility in the following Summer term. Credits earned during Summer sessions and transfer credits are not considered.  

Award renewal is based on your academic performance and compliance with the Terms & Conditions outlined above following your first, second and third consecutive year of study. The award may be withdrawn due to unsatisfactory academic performance. 

Payment 

The value of this award is based on the annual income earned from endowed funds and is estimated to be up to approximately $16,000 over four years of study. The annual award value will be confirmed in July at the time of renewal eligibility assessment and is estimated to be approximately $4,000 annually.  

Payment for admission awards is applied to your student account after your full-time registration and compliance with the above Terms and Conditions is confirmed, typically by mid-October. 

Withdrawal or Transfer to Part-Time 

Students are required to inform the Office of the Faculty Registrar, Arts & Science before dropping below full-time status. Students who withdraw or reduce their course-load below the threshold may be required to repay all or part of their award.
