Program Admission and Summer Enrolment FAQs

Y1 FAQs: Program Admission and Summer Enrolment

From March 1 – April 26, you can request your choice of Rotman Commerce specialist on ACORN by selecting one of the following under ‘Enrol & Manage > Programs’:

  • Accounting – ASSPE2676
  • Finance & Economics – ASSPE2038
  • Management – ASSPE2431

If you are still unsure what specialist to choose, make a request. You have the ability to switch your specialist later.

Beginning March 1st, you can also add other programs that you may be interested in, such as an Economics minor or a different program. Please review information in the Program Toolkit to learn how to add other programs.

Upon successful completion of the Guaranteed Admission requirements, you will be “Invited” on ACORN to the specialist you requested. You will need to “Accept” the invitation in order to be officially enrolled in Rotman Commerce.

Yes. Once you have been enrolled in your specialist program, you can switch your specialist directly on ACORN between the months of March-September (with exact dates listed in the Program Toolkit). To switch your specialist, please follow the directions in this Switching Programs video. If you have any questions about specialist progression or course planning, be sure to speak with an academic advisor.

There are 3 different time periods to complete your GA requirements:

Timeline of GA Completion “Invited” status available on ACORN: Accept invitation on ACORN and enrol by:
End of April   June 9  First week of July
Summer (F – Section)    Early July  Early July
Summer (Y and S – Section)   Late August – Early September *Depending on when grades get released  Late August – Early September

Yes. Summer school registration opens on March 1st , which is when you can sign up for courses. Remember, in order to complete your summer registration, your fees are due by April 24th.

If you discover that you have met the GA requirements when your marks are posted in late April/early May, you can cancel your summer course before the 100% refund deadline to get a full refund. Refund schedules are posted on the Student Accounts website.

If you are planning on taking courses during the summer, note the Summer timetable and enrolment instructions are now available on the Arts & Science website. You are limited to 1.0 credits per semester in the summer (maximum 2.0 credits for summer), and should prioritize your efforts and attention on any incomplete GA courses.

You will be permitted to take upper-year RSM courses only if you have met all the Guaranteed Admission requirements by the end of April.

If you do not think you will be able to successfully meet your GA requirements by the end of Summer session, set up an appointment with an academic advisor on the RC Portal to discuss your situation. The earlier you meet with an advisor to discuss your situation, the sooner you can have clarity going forward.
