Fall/Winter/Full-Year exchange programs
Interested in studying abroad? Earn credits toward your degree while seeing the world! You can take advantage of the University’s exchange opportunities to study abroad in third year and receive credit for the courses you complete. You can choose to go for a single semester, two semesters, or even study at two different schools and do a term at each. When you go on exchange, you pay your normal U of T tuition, and are responsible for your other living expenses abroad. In most cases, your exchange will have arrangements for housing. Many of our exchange partner institutions offer courses in English. Scholarships and bursaries are also available from the Centre for International Experience (CIE).
The CIE holds information sessions each November and January. Applications are due in mid-January for studies commencing the following September and in April for studies commencing the following Winter. Contact the CIE for further information and application forms. You can also check out our Getting Started guide and FAQs.
Summer exchange programs
In addition to the fall/winter exchange programs that are available, you can also take summer classes abroad through the CIE. If you’re in first, second, or third year, you can opt to go on a summer exchange. Summer session is a great opportunity to participate in an exchange for a shorter period of time. Most programs are 1-2 months long.
Exchange partner schools
University of Toronto students have access to over 130 partner schools. For a full list of opportunities, visit the CIE Learning Abroad website. To learn more about the opportunities at each of our partner schools, search by Institution. You’ll find important details like application requirements, deadlines, available courses, housing and more.
Rotman Commerce also has preferred partner universities for international exchange. These schools are part of U of T’s larger group of partner schools and considered to be of similar prestige and quality to Rotman Commerce, and offer similar curricula. We recommend that you start with these schools when considering an exchange as credit transfer is generally easier.
