First-Year Orientation
August 20 to September 25, 2024
Our first-year orientation will introduce you to the ins and outs of life at Rotman Commerce.
Separate from your College orientation, Rotman Commerce orientation events are specifically geared to our students. You’ll get an introduction to our student organizations and the RC Houses, and gain some tips on how to make the most out of your first year—both in and out of the classroom.

RC Connect
Location: Online
Meet Rotman Commerce students and staff at RC Connect, our online speed networking event. Make new friends in record time! Every few minutes you’ll be paired with another first-year student or upper-year student. Don’t worry if you’re shy — we’ll give you prompts to get the conversation going. Note: This event is hosted through an online platform called Gatheround and you will need a camera and microphone to participate.
RC Campus Tours
Dates: Monday, August 26, Tuesday, August 27, Wednesday, August 28, Thursday, August 29, Friday, August 30
Time: *NEW TIMES ADDED* 10 AM, 11 AM, and 12 PM Daily
Location: Tours begins at OISE, 252 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON M5S 1V6
Excited to explore the University of Toronto downtown campus? We have you covered! Join us for a student-led campus tour, where your peers will showcase some of the most important spaces during your time at Rotman Commerce. Your tour will be led by two upper-year Orientation Leaders who will be able to provide insights and advice on how to tackle your first year. Spots are limited so sign up as soon as possible. Block Party
Date: Wednesday, August 28, 6-10 PM
Location: Front Campus
The colleges are hosting a giant party with plenty of inflatables, fun carnival games, and free stuff from sponsors! Some of the exciting activities include: Climbing Walls, Sports Games, Tricycle Race, and more. The Block Party is organized by Woodsworth College as part of Woodsworth Orientation 2024. New students from all U of T colleges are welcome; buy a ticket from your own college until August 17.
PRE U of T Panel for Incoming First-Year Students
Date: Thursday, August 29, 11 AM-12:30 PM
Location: MC102, Mechanical Engineering Building, 5 King’s College Rd, Toronto, ON M5S 3G8
PRE U of T is an annual intercollegiate Orientation event which aids in the academic transition for incoming first year students in the Faculty of Arts and Science. The program is designed to introduce students to their area of academic study and to help students develop strategies for academic success by connecting students with professors and upper-year students in their program of study. During PRE U of T, first-year students attend one of six sessions based on their academic stream. In each of these sessions, these students hear from a panel that is made up of faculty members and upper-year students in their program of study. If you have any questions that you’d like to ask an upper-year student or professor in your stream, you can submit your questions here.

Join us at Black Rotman Commerce (BRC) for an exciting orientation event where BRC takes you through frequently asked questions, their best advice and fun games. This opportunity will give new black students a chance to ease into community life at Rotman Commerce. Chat with upper-year students and learn about how to navigate through university life and studies. In addition, there will be plenty of activities, pizza, donuts and refreshments. Come enjoy with us! We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to the new academic year.

Our annual RC Clubs Fair will give you your first taste of community life at Rotman Commerce. Join us at the Rotman School of Management and check out our 30 student groups and communities. This is a great opportunity to chat with upper-year student leaders and see how you can participate in the 200+ student-run events held every year. You can also pick up your free Rotman Commerce branded House t-shirt here!

Join RC Houses for an exciting day at one of Toronto’s coolest retro arcade spots: FreePlay Toronto. Enjoy unlimited play on 65+ classic arcade games and original Nintendo, N64, and Wii console games across two floors. This exclusive event, for Rotman Commerce students only, gives us the whole venue to ourselves for two hours. Come make new friends and meet your RC House Committee at this social! Tickets are $10 and include unlimited free gaming, delicious food platters, and a non-alcoholic drink ticket.

Join us for the Rotman Commerce Pride Alliance’s Welcome Event! Celebrate diversity with vibrant music and meet members of the LGBTQ+ community at Rotman Commerce. The theme is Club Night. Join us at Rotman Commerce’s annual BBQ at Hart House! All students, new and returning, are invited to enjoy burgers, catch up with friends and meet our newest students. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to chat with Student Life, Academic Services, Career Services, and the Centre for Professional Skills. Come get your free lunch and learn about the various resources and supports available to you. Gluten-free, vegetarian/vegan, and halal options are available.
