Second-Year Learning Communities (SLC)
Welcome to our new and exciting Second-Year Learning Community designed just for you! 🌟
You may have heard the transition to second year can be challenging on several fronts. These challenges involve working through a demanding academic curriculum, navigating career exploration and finding a summer internship, balancing extracurricular activities- all while ensuring you prioritize your health and wellbeing! This is exactly why SLC has been developed: to ensure you have the inside track on how to balance all your priorities so you can perform at your best during this transformational year!
So, get ready to embark on a journey of personal and professional growth, discover amazing opportunities, and make lasting friendships and memories! Join us and let’s make your 2nd year the best one yet! 🚀
We’ve designed a carefully structured framework where you will navigate second year in small cohort-based groups so you will be in many of the same lecture sections as your peers. This will help ensure you have maximum peer support, and each group will be led by experienced and well-trained upper year mentors.
Through 12 sessions during the year (6 sessions each term) you will receive a balanced set of program opportunities founded in principles of student empowerment, growth mindset, and leadership to meet challenges head on in a safe and supportive environment. Whether it is effective learning strategies to tackle RSM and ECO courses, creating a personalized Individual Development Plan, taking part in a fireside chat with a professor or industry leader, deepening connections with your peers, SLC has been tailored to offer essential skills, invaluable insight, and friendly support, every step of the way.
