More information about Convocation 2020 | April 3, 2020

Dear Rotman Commerce students,

We wanted to follow up on the email sent to you on March 25th as we now have a few more details regarding Convocation.

As announced today by the President of the University of Toronto, the University is planning Convocation to occur through a virtual (or webcast) ceremony, where the Chancellor will confer the degrees of all graduates in absentia. This will be posted to the web on or before June 2, 2020. Diploma parchments will then be couriered to all graduates.

When the situation normalizes and it is possible to gather safely, we will then be hosting an in-person gathering of our 2020 graduates in Toronto to celebrate your important milestone. We are determined to organize a celebratory in-person ceremony with most of the core elements of a traditional Convocation ceremony – graduate procession (in academic regalia), academic and leadership procession, congratulatory remarks from the Deans, convocation speaker, individual presentation of graduates, and a reception to welcome you and your guests. Our program leaders and alumni relations team have already begun planning how to make these celebrations particularly special so that we can honour your accomplishments.

We will be monitoring the situation and, once the limitations on large gatherings are lifted, we will be able to look ahead and confirm dates for our Rotman Commerce celebration. It will give us all something to look forward to.
