Hey everyone! Vivian and Raghib here, bringing you the final article in our Life@RC<\/strong> series.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

You may be wondering: What is a market simulation? What is a case competition? Why are we going to do them and what is their importance? You see, the great thing about the Black Student leadership Conference<\/strong> is that it gives you a glimpse into what many RC students like us do outside of the classroom to prepare us for the real world when we kickstart our careers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

What is a market simulation?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n

A market simulation is a fun and hands-on way for students like you to experience what it\u2019s like to trade stocks, just like real traders do. In this simulation, you\u2019ll get to buy and sell stocks while reacting to market changes. As the simulation goes on, news updates will pop up that can affect stock prices\u2014just like in real life. This will help you see how important it is to stay updated on business news, whether it\u2019s about the economy or different industries like tech, energy, and manufacturing. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

Not only will you learn how trading works, but you\u2019ll also understand why traders make the choices they do. Who knows? You might even discover an interest in Capital Markets\u2014the part of finance where trading happens! <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

What is a Case Competition?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n

Case competitions are not only engaging events that test your skills and business acumen but also an opportunity to act as a consultant for a real company or organization. In these competitions, students are given a company, its problem statement (the challenge it currently faces and seeks guidance on), and supporting documents with all the necessary information about the firm. From there, each team researches, brainstorms, and develops a presentation showcasing their proposed solution. Finally, students present in front of judges, who then select a winner!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

Case competitions closely mirror real-world consulting, offering business students invaluable hands-on experience. Beyond that, they help develop crucial skills applicable to any career, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
