Reviewing graded work allows you the opportunity to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>better understand what you did well<\/li>\n<li>identify areas where you may need to devote extra study and attention<\/li>\n<li>seek clarification of concepts\u00a0that you do not understand<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>identify strategies for improving\u00a0your performance in the future<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>However, there may be instances\u00a0when\u00a0you discover\u00a0that there was a calculation error in\u00a0your\u00a0final mark or when\u00a0you believe an error was made in the\u00a0assessment.\u00a0In such cases you may appeal your mark.<\/p>\n<p>To advance\u00a0an informal or formal request to have your grade reviewed, you must present a justification for doing so. Reasons such as\u00a0attending every class, working\u00a0really hard\u00a0or needing a higher mark so your CGPA is not affected are not grounds for grade reviews and such requests will not be granted.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><div class=\"block-wrapper block-wrapper-spacer\">\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper block-wrapper-accordion\"><div id=\"accordion-block_6232389dde5cb\" class=\"accordion\">\n\t<div class=\"accordion-body\">\n\t\t<div class=\"accordion-body-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-body-item-header accordion-body-item-header-block_6232389dde5cb\">\n\t\t\t\t<h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" class=\"accordion-body-item-title\" data-toggle-active=\".accordion-body-item-header-block_6232389dde5cb\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"accordion-body-item-title-text\" style=\"color: #000000\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAppealing term work\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"accordion-body-item-icon\" data-toggle-active=\".accordion-body-item-header-block_6232389dde5cb\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<svg width=\"21px\" height=\"12px\" viewBox=\"0 0 21 12\" version=\"1.1\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" xmlns:xlink=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1999\/xlink\">\n\t<g stroke=\"none\" stroke-width=\"1\" fill=\"none\" fill-rule=\"evenodd\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\">\n\t\t<g transform=\"translate(-810.000000, -1545.000000)\" stroke=\"#004990\">\n\t\t\t<g transform=\"translate(250.000000, 1544.000000)\">\n\t\t\t\t<polyline transform=\"translate(570.217391, 7.000000) rotate(-270.000000) translate(-570.217391, -7.000000) \" points=\"565 -3 575.434783 6.72727273 565.510145 17\"><\/polyline>\n\t\t\t<\/g>\n\t\t<\/g>\n\t<\/g>\n<\/svg>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t<\/h2>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"block_6232389dde5cb-body\" class=\"accordion-body-item-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\n<div class=\"block-wrapper block-wrapper-paragraph\">\n<p>This process applies to any RSM coursework completed during the term\u2014for example, mid-term tests, quizzes, team projects, written assignments\u00a0etc.\u00a0<strong>It does not apply to final examinations<\/strong>, which are handled through the Faculty\u00a0of Arts &amp; Science (see below).\u202fIn the case of team projects or assignments, the express written consent of all team members is required to proceed with a review or re-evaluation.\u202f\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper block-wrapper-paragraph\">\n<p><strong>Level 1: Appeal to your course instructor<\/strong>\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper block-wrapper-paragraph\">\n<p>If you\u00a0believe\u00a0that an individual item of term work has been marked incorrectly (or that the grade has been miscalculated),\u202fyou may ask the course instructor for a re-evaluation. Such re-evaluation may involve the entire piece of work and can result in a raised mark, a lowered mark or no change at all.\u202fMost instructors will indicate the specific process for reviews in the course outline, on the course page\u00a0or via\u00a0announcement in class. You\u00a0must file a request for review within two weeks from the date the item is returned to you.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper block-wrapper-paragraph\">\n<p><strong>Level 2: Appeal to the Rotman Commerce Director<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper block-wrapper-paragraph\">\n<p>If\u202fyou are\u00a0not satisfied with the re-evaluation, you\u00a0may appeal to\u202fthe Rotman Commerce Director\u00a0<strong>provided the work you are appealing is worth at least 20% of the course mark<\/strong>. You must file an appeal to the Rotman Commerce Director\u00a0within\u202ftwo\u00a0weeks\u202fof receiving the results of your\u00a0appeal to the instructor.\u202f\u00a0\u202f\u00a0To submit an appeal to the Rotman Commerce Director:\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper block-wrapper-list\">\n<ul><li>Address the appeal to the Director \u2013 Rotman Commerce\u202f&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper block-wrapper-list\">\n<ul><li>Explain why you believe the work was marked incorrectly (include specific instances of disagreement supported by documentation as applicable)\u202f&nbsp;<\/li><li>Summarize all previous communications with the marker and\/or instructor\u202f&nbsp;<\/li><li>Include&nbsp;a scan of&nbsp;the original marked piece of work\u202f&nbsp;<\/li><li>If the work in question was a collaborative or group project, each team member must sign off on the appeal\u202f&nbsp;<\/li><li>Submit your appeal to&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:rotmancommerce.info@utoronto.ca\">rotmancommerce.info@utoronto.ca<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper block-wrapper-paragraph\">\n<p>If after evaluating your appeal, the Director\u00a0believes that a re-evaluation is appropriate,\u00a0they\u00a0will solicit an independent reader for this purpose.\u00a0This\u00a0reader will be given a clean, anonymous copy of the work and will not know what mark was assigned originally. The re-evaluation will be done in accordance with the marker\/instructor\u2019s original grading scheme and\u00a0take into account\u00a0the nature and level of the course. The re-evaluation will involve the entire piece of work and can result in a raised mark, a lowered\u00a0mark or no change at all.\u202f\u00a0\u202f\u00a0By\u00a0submitting an appeal,\u00a0you agree\u00a0to the terms and conditions stated above.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper block-wrapper-paragraph\">\n<p><strong>Level 3: Appeal to the Office of the Dean of Arts &amp; Science<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper block-wrapper-paragraph\">\n<p>The Dean\u2019s Office is the final level of appeal on academic matters in the Faculty of Arts &amp; Science. An appeal must have been reviewed at the departmental level before referral to the Dean\u2019s Office; appeals to the Dean\u2019s Office must\u00a0be in writing and include all previous correspondence on the matter. Appeals to the Dean\u2019s Office regarding term work will be reviewed to ensure that appropriate procedures were followed in the earlier appeals, that students have been treated fairly and that the standards applied have been consistent with those applied to other students in the course. A\u202fsupervised viewing of your exam\u202fwill be scheduled.\u00a0An exam viewing is\u00a0an opportunity for you to verify that your final exam has been\u00a0marked fairly and that the mark is calculated correctly.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper block-wrapper-paragraph\">\n<p><strong>Exam\u00a0copy\u00a0request\u202f\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper block-wrapper-paragraph\">\n<p>If you have written a\u202fFaculty of\u202fArts &amp; Science final exam on the St. George campus within the last six months, you may\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.artsci.utoronto.ca\/current\/faculty-registrar\/exams\/exam-copy-request\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">request a copy of your exam<\/a>. Obtaining an exam copy allows you to review the marking and calculation of your final exam on your own time, and to consult your course\u00a0materials alongside the exam.\u202fAcademic units sometimes categorize final exams as\u202frestricted, which means that copies are not permitted.
