Professional designations\u202fdemonstrate expertise in specialize<\/span><\/span>d areas and signal\u202fthat\u202fyou have\u00a0<\/span><\/span>acquired\u202fskills and knowledge\u202fto\u202fa<\/span><\/span>\u00a0particular industry standard.\u202f<\/span><\/span>At Rotman\u202fCommerce, student<\/span><\/span>s\u202fcommonly\u202fconsider the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Chartere<\/span><\/span>d Professional Accountant (CPA)<\/span><\/span>\u202fand\u202fthe Cha<\/span><\/span>rtered Financial Analyst\u00ae (CFA) designations.\u00a0 While we can refer students to supports in pursuit of a CPA or CFA designation, we unfortunately cannot provide guidance for any other professional bodies.\u00a0 Please reach out to them directly.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n<\/div>

Specializing in Accounting at Rotman Commerce provides a path to CPA professional designation. If you complete the Accounting curriculum and meet the grade requirements (as determined by the CPA<\/a>), you will have completed the Prerequisite Education<\/a> for CPA certification.  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

You can then continue to complete the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP)<\/a> through the CPA directly, through a post-secondary institution<\/a>, or a combination of both.  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

Many students will enrol in the Rotman School of Management\u2019s Graduate Diploma in Professional Accounting<\/a>, the University of Toronto \u2013 Mississauga’s Master of Management & Professional Accounting<\/a>, or the University of Toronto \u2013 Scarborough’s Master of Accounting and Finance<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

If you are considering a career in professional accounting, we highly recommend that you pursue a CPA designation. CPA Ontario is the governing body in Ontario for individuals who have completed the intensive CPA certification program.
