Turn your startup idea into a Real Venture<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Launch Your Big Idea (LYBI) program supports U of T undergraduate students in moving from ideation to execution through workshops, mentorship, and venture capital exposure \u2014 culminating in a final pitch for seed funding.<\/p>\n

Launch Your Big Idea Applications are now OPEN. Please apply using this following Microsoft form: Launch Your Big Idea Application Form 2026-27<\/b><\/a> This form is due on October 4, 2026 at 11:59pm. Only participants who have filled out this form in entirety by the due date will be considered for the program<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

About the Program<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Led in collaboration by the Rotman Commerce Entrepreneurship Organization (RCEO)<\/strong> and <\/span>Rotman Commerce Sales Group (RCSG)<\/strong>, \u2014 with support from Rotman Commerce Student Life \u2014 LYBI gives students the tools, network, and confidence to build viable startups.<\/p>\n

Through core workshops, fireside chats, mentorship check-ins, and community engagement<\/strong>, students gain practical experience in:<\/p>\n

    Sales & Go-to-Market Strategy<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Venture Capital Thinking & Execution Readiness<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Eligibility<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    The Entrepreneurship StartUp Program is open to all Rotman Commerce students. You can apply individually or as part of a team of any number of members, but at least ONE of your member must be a Rotman Commerce student. Not all applications will be accepted.<\/p>\n

    Commitment<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    Success in this program in terms of both prize money and learning requires that you:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Attend the preparation sessions. You will also be expected to employ additional resources that will be provided on writing a business plan.<\/li>\n
    • Practice and refine your pitch<\/li>\n
    • Present your pitch to an expert panel of faculty, industry experts and alumni<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Timeline<\/strong><\/h2>\n

      The program runs from Fall to Winter<\/strong>, beginning with promotion, outreach, and info sessions in September, followed by applications, interviews, and cohort selection in October. From November to March, participants take part in a series of workshops, fireside chats, and mentorship activities, culminating in Final Pitch Day<\/strong> in March.<\/p>\n

      Prizing<\/strong><\/h2>\n

      Winning students\/teams will receive their share of up to $10,000 towards the achievement of any business objective. Your business idea should involve products or services that are socioeconomically beneficial to society and be consistent with the missions and the values of the University of Toronto.<\/p>\n

      You’ll also be\u202foffered a mentorship opportunity for post-competition support.<\/p>\n
