Academic Planning & Application Guidelines
Academic Planning
Before applying to exchange, it is important to access these resources to gather information about bursaries, scholarships, housing, and application requirements. In planning, consider the various exchange and learning abroad opportunities and how credits transfer.

You can take advantage of the University’s International Exchange program through the Learning Abroad Office at the Centre of International Experience (CIE) to study abroad in Year 3 or 4. Students can go on exchange when they are NOT enrolled in Full-Year courses. Credits earned abroad will be transferred to U of T. Degree Explorer Planner: How to plan with potential transfer credits
Here is an example of a Management Specialist progression with different types of transfer credits and how they can support planning for program completion.

Students are encouraged to review the RSM Pre-Approved Course list and keep in mind that the courses listed are only valid for 3 years from the year of approval. It is also important to note that not all courses offered by the institution are listed on the pre-approved list and that course offerings may change from year to year at the host institution.
We encourage students to plan their exchange opportunities with unspecified transfer credits (e.g. RSM3**H1) which can be considered as electives. In such cases, while planning your term abroad, in Degree Explorer, please use independent study course codes such as RSM301H and RSM302H or RSM401 and RSM402 to account for unspecified transfer credits. Please refer to the pre-approved course list when trying to develop a better understanding of the types of transfer credits you can earn.
