“It’s crucial for alumni – especially new grads – to stay engaged with Rotman Commerce and the Rotman Commerce graduate community. Doing this will build a strong network of alumni that will continue to help strengthen the Rotman Commerce program. You may also make some new friends and business contacts, which is never a bad thing!”

For Bryn Knox (BCom ’04), commerce was a way into a career in the entertainment industry. Right after graduation Bryn joined a small start-up company founded by a friend. “It was a great opportunity to gain experience and help build a company,” he says. He then landed in marketing at Walt Disney Studios Canada; it was a superb fit that allowed Bryn to pursue his dream of working in entertainment. Now a Junior Acquisitions Analyst at Ole Music Publishing, Knox remains passionate about his job and the industry he works in.

Bryn chose to pursue his BCom at the University of Toronto based on its strong reputation and after touring the campus he was sold. “The strength of the professors and fellow students makes the Commerce Program at UofT a great choice; plus being located in downtown Toronto is a huge benefit,” he says.

Many of our alumni recall their undergraduate days with great fondness, and Bryn is no exception “I really enjoyed my time at UofT.  The Commerce Program provided a well-balanced and rigorous education. The diversity of programs, resources, and people on the UofT campus made my undergrad an amazing experience,” he says. And no wonder – Knox took advantage of many of the opportunities available through UofT, participating in the Woodsworth College summer exchange program in Siena, Italy, joining the Entrepreneur Club, and playing on a number of intramural sports teams.

Today, Bryn is an active member of the Rotman Commerce Alumni Steering Committee. He believes it’s crucial for alumni – especially new grads – to stay engaged with Rotman Commerce and the Rotman Commerce graduate community. “Doing this will build a strong network of alumni that will continue to help strengthen the Rotman Commerce program.  You may also make some new friends and business contacts, which is never a bad thing!” says Bryn.

Next year, Bryn will complete his CMA designation, having chosen to gain some solid work experience before deciding on what post-grad education or professional designations to pursue. For him, that doesn’t mean leaving Rotman Commerce behind, however. “I plan on continuing my involvement with the Rotman Commerce Alumni Steering Committee and helping to build a stronger alumni community,” says Bryn – a fact that all of us at Rotman Commerce can be glad about.
